京都府警察音楽隊は、昭和24年2月に創設されました。式典演奏を始め、毎月開催している「平安ふれあいコンサート」、交通安全運動等での支援演奏、青少年の健全育成を目的とした小・中学校での演奏会等、幅広い活動を通じて、府民の皆さんと警察とを結ぶ「音の架け橋」として、音楽パトロールを府内一円で繰り広げています。

　京都府警察カラーガード隊は、警察音楽隊による活動をより一層充実させ広報効果を高めるため、昭和54年10月に創設されました。隊員は全て警察官で編成され、全国の警察音楽隊の中で屈指の長さを誇るロングポールを使用した迫力のある演技やショートフラッグなどを使用した華麗な演技で、警察音楽隊とともに活動に当たっています。

The Kyoto Prefectural Police Band was established in February 1949. The band participates in various activities including ceremonies, monthly "Heian Fureai Concerts," traffic safety events and concerts at elementary and junior high schools to encourage the healthy upbringing of the youth. It strives to be a "bridge of music" between the citizens of the prefecture and the police, and patrols the prefecture with its music.

The Kyoto Prefectural Police Color Guard was established in October 1979 to further enhance the public relations efforts of the police band. The color guard is composed entirely of police officers, and together with the band, it puts on powerful performances using the longest flag poles of any police band in Japan, as well as brilliant shows twirling short poles.
